This area of roof had been leaking for quite some time. A large repair job was needed but the owner was not quite ready for a full roof replacement.

The insulation was completely saturated and needed to be replaced. Once wet, certain insulations become soggy and cannot return to their former state.

The rotten insulation was cut out in one large section.

New Insulation was installed and a thermal board was glued over top to create a flame resistant barrier for the next phase of the installation.

A torch applied membrane was then installed over the thermal board. This layer of membrane is 100% waterproof and once installed, will offer full protection from the rain until the final layer of material is applied.

All vents and drains get an extra layer of membrane for additional protection.

As is required by code, all roof membranes must turn up a wall at least 8″ in case of roof flooding.

Finally a granulated layer of membrane or “capsheet” is applied. This layer protects the entire roof surface from the harmful UV rays of the sun.
